About

Greetings! I’m John, and at Skeleton Key Poetry our mission is simple: to give a home to the overlooked poems you’ve been carrying around. If you’ve ever read an established magazine and thought, “Seriously? Mine are better than this,” you’re not alone — I’ve had that moment too.

This magazine exists to bridge that gap between the polished world of “established” poetry and the rest of us who write with passion, persistence, and heart.

I don’t claim credentials or academic expertise, and honestly, that’s the point. We’re not bound by gatekeeping or predetermined standards. I believe good poetry is something you feel in your chest, something you recognize the moment you see it. That’s the spirit behind Skeleton Key Poetry.

All forms of poetry are welcome! If you have some amazing prose, rhyming, or experimental poetry that unlocks the strange, the emotional, or the beautifully dark then send it to us! Shoot your shot! Let us feel your energy and emotion through the page.

This is not a money-making venture for us, but we do have real costs involved. We ask for a $3 flat fee for each submission of 1-5 poems. Thanks for understanding.

Tell us a little about yourself so we can get an opportunity to know you better! That way we can understand a little bit where you and your poetry are coming from. Tell us about your rejections, background, and adventures! That being said, share as little or as much as you like. Share with the understanding that we may quote you in the magazine, (unless you tell us not to).

We will publish quarterly, in March, June, September, and December. We will make every effort to get back to you within 2-3 weeks. So, get motivated and send your best stuff! I’m excited about this venture, and I hope you are too!
